Project Details

Description

The general objective of the project is to develop a primary health care model for hypertensive patients in the health area No. 2 Miraflores of the province of Azuay during the 2010 - 2012 period. Specific objectives: 1) Determine the risk factors in the hypertensive ones of said area; 2) Evaluate adherence to treatment; 3) develop and apply an intervention program in the community; 4) Prepare and evaluate a manual on HTA management for health personnel; 5) Evaluate the project. Methodology is a research-research study. It will be made up of the patients diagnosed with HTA in the health sub -centers of area 2 Miraflores, during a calendar year. The sample will be clusters and will consist of 200 patients diagnosed with HT; Of which 100 will form the intervention group and 100 the control group. The dependent variable is arterial hypertension. Independent variables are physical activity, body weight (BMI), excessive salt intake, excessive alcohol intake, smoking, adherence to treatment, knowledge, attitudes and practices (CAPS) related to HT. Health personnel will be previously trained in HTA management. An educational intervention procedure will be applied to the group of hypertensive patients. In the second control group the intervention will not apply. Both groups will receive treatment for hypertension. The dependent variable (HTA) will be subject to systematic observation. To facilitate educational activities, groups of hypertensive will be organized. Medicine students will actively participate in these activities. A manual on standards and procedures for the management of HT will be developed in primary health care, which will have the endorsement of the MSP. In this project we expect the following results: Best training of health personnel. Better control and adhesion to the treatment of patients, lay the basis for the management of HT in PHC. Publication of the results obtained. In addition, there will be information about CAPS, groups of hypertensive will have been formed that will know their health problems and will multiply the concepts of prevention in their family.
