Description

Cervical cancer (CACU), is the second in prevalence nationwide after breast cancer. The CACU is mainly a sexually transmitted infection, cause is the human papillomavirus (HPV). Cervical cytology known as Pap smear has achieved a reduction in Cacu's prevalence in industrialized countries, however coverage in some European countries reaches 70 to 79%, in Ecuador it reaches approximately 9%. This situation has generated that at national level 445 women die for this cause every year. High -risk HPV infection is crucial for the development of the disease, by Emela detection of the virus in women is relevant. The tests to detect HPV have demonstrated greater sensitivity and specificity than the traditional Pap smear test, for this reason in many European countries this last technique is being replaced by HPV screening at the primary care level. It has been shown that auto tests for the diagnosis of HPV and urine detection have a sensitivity similar to the most invasive tests. The acceptability of less invasive tests is greater, they do not require the presence of trained personnel. The presence of HPV, may be associated with a cervical pre -evil lesion, which must be evaluated by colposcopy. Through Telemedicina, an earlier diagnosis could be provided in and avoid prolonged waiting times to the appointment in this specialty
