The technology and community in the life of the deaf people of Cuenca, Ecuador

Description

The use of technology and medicine is not always easily accessible for the parents of children with deafness, this affects their quality of life and families and generates different kinds of feelings that direct positive or negative actions. Through a qualitative type design, semi -structured interviews will be carried out to 28 parents of deaf boys and girls between 3 to 7 years and 10 to 15 years of two social classes (urban and rural and rural poor and a focal group to children who wish to participate in order to identify the opportunities and aspirations of deaf children A son or daughter deaf (iii) tell the identity of deaf people, (iv) interpret the relationship between the opportunities, aspirations of deaf children with health, family and identity. Finally, respecting the ethics criteria, interviews will be transcribed and encoded to analyze and submit the report.
