Project Details

Description

The cities are territories where processes, changes and conflicts of social life are generated that define the quality of the convenience and existence of its inhabitants. Cities grow and build following the prevailing patterns of a certain lifestyle. An elementary aspect that helps to materialize the right to the city is the possibility of living in safe environments. The current dynamics have generated cities where neighborhood and familiarity relations have disappeared, causing the replacement of direct, face to face, primary, indirect and secondary relations; Which grows the feeling of distrust, insecurity, fear and fear. Faced with this situation, we want to inquire about the concept of the right to the city, as a concept that implies understanding cities as a common good, and the relationship with the perception that citizens have about citizen security. The investigation has as a general objective: to analyze citizen security from a perspective of the right to the city, in the Cuenca canton. Based on deepening the study of the city and the application of a set of quantitative and qualitative techniques, as well as through a data mining process, to identify those elements that affect coexistence and cantonal safety. The project will generate two scientific articles in Scopus on the subject, which will contribute to improve the understanding of urban processes in Ecuadorian cities, based on the case study of the Cuenca canton.
