From the mid -nineteenth century to approximately the third decade of the twentieth century in Ecuador's Basin, the so -called hall music was developed, considered as secular or profane with respect to the religious, it was constituted by musical genres of romanticism inherited from the Spanish and European culture of the 19 Step This music was mostly written for piano by composers who performed as chapel teachers and at the same time as musicians who served a small city where different social groups coexisted; The group that supported profane lounge music was the dominant, the wealthy, who enjoyed, danced and used that music to fulfill specific functions (Nattiez, 1990) in society.
