Description
In universities, situations of domination and exclusion that reproduce the patriarchal order of society are maintained, directly affecting the academic life of students who are part of these institutions, especially women. The present study proposes to understand how the social order of gender is reproduced (BUQUET, 2016) in the practices and subjectivities of students of the University of Cuenca. To do this, it is proposed: identify the existing gender gaps between undergraduate students; Characterize gender social constructions linked to the development of the academic life of the student through which gender roles and stereotypes that limit equal access to rights and opportunities are still reproduced; And identify the tools of the students to develop their capacity as agency against the social order of gender. The investigation is descriptive, explanatory and propositive. The design is hybrid, combines the qualitative and quantitative approach, with a predominance of the first. A survey will be applied to a sample of students to identify gender gaps and build a starting point for analysis. Interviews and discussion groups will be conducted to understand the socio -cultural constructions of gender and identify both the limitations facing students and their agency capacity. The method that will guide the present work is the founded theory (Grouted Theory). The results obtained will be validated with the actors themselves and the construction of a participatory action proposal will be promoted to promote equal opportunities at the University of Cuenca.
