Description
Exceed the limits of the ecological footprint that allows the biocapacity of the earth, in the face of a climate change that threatens the continuity of biodiversity; Being about to exhaust natural resources, as well as increasing the gap of inequality between rich and poor countries, between present and future generations, are just some of the effects in which the work of architecture influences, since construction is not alien to these problems, rather it is one of the main actors in this change. Being that from the production of materials, their transport, the construction process, the use and maintenance of the buildings and, finally, their demolition once reached the end of their useful life, involve significant environmental impacts. Ecuador in recent years has presented a boom in construction with a marked economic character and a particular intensity. Intensity that has not only benefited the financial sector but that it is the breeding ground for a timely structuring of the construction sector and its professionals. Structuring that should be understood as an opportunity to design a basic sector in the new low carbon economy. However, in order to lay the foundations on which architecture and construction professionals have a close reference to get involved in the fight against climate change, a documentary source is necessary that identifies variables of sustainable architecture that are being built in Ecuador, hence the need for a systematic study of the panorama of architecture and the current construction in Ecuador.
