Description
Within the framework of the "Plan for the use and water control of the province of Los Ríos", which is executed through the agreement held between the University of Cuenca and the National Secretariat of Water Senagua, a study is necessary to characterize the flow processes in order to respond to design issues of the works for hydraulic use in the channels. For this, it is proposed to carry out the experimental research in reduced scale models for the identification of aspects related to the flow fields and sedimentation processes according to the hydrological, morphological and physical characteristics of the rivers to be intervened. General objective to contribute to the understanding of the flow processes in hydraulic works for the use and control of water in channels of the province of Los Ríos. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES - Analyze the hydraulic performance and flow processes associated with the disposition and architecture of the designed works: take, derivation, landfills of excesses and diversion systems, considering the flowers established for normal operation and for excess control, as well as scenarios of operation of interest for the project - Identify the morphodynamic processes related to erosion/undercutting, sedimentation, movement and removal of sediment for different scenaries That consider both hydrological regularity as well as the operation procedures in the works - establish recommendations that allow the identification of the design modifications that are required to optimize hydraulic performance and guarantee safety of the works The results obtained will be part of the technical/scientific dissemination documents of the Hydraulic and Fluid Dynamics LH & DF of the Department of Civil Engineering, and will be considered for the elaboration of a dissemination of an article Scientist to be proposed for publication in an indexed magazine.
