Integration of space data and environmental monitoring with UAV for decision -making in populated areas and protected areas of the Galapagos Islands

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Proper decision making on a territory depends largely on the information available for such a process. In a territory such as that of the Galapagos Islands, decisions taken in protected areas have an impact on populated areas, as well as those of populated areas on protected. To ensure that this decision -making is adequate, on the one hand, it is necessary to achieve the integration of geographic information of protected and populated areas that is captured and stored by different institutions; And on the other hand, provide fast deployment monitoring systems that allow to capture information at the time required. Therefore, the objective of this project is to launch a space data infrastructure between two Galapagueñas institutions considering the existing connectivity limitations; And perform experimental uprisings with UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) aimed at demonstrating its feasibility and benefits for environmental monitoring for study cases related to stone material and vegetation rates.
