Description
The importance of the migratory phenomenon in the provinces of Azuay, Cañar and Loja, is a known fact, however, the current global economic crisis reconfigures the migratory scenario, an aspect that has not yet been investigated. It is therefore pertinent to study the reconfiguration of transnational families and their changes in the demographic aspect, as well as to determine the mediation of ICTs in communication between members of transnational families and investigate the dependence of remittances in the family economy in this context of crisis. In this sense, it is proposed to carry out an investigation, descriptive and analytical, which includes "the comparison" of the results obtained between the main destination countries of the migrants in the southern region of Ecuador (United States and Spain) and considers the retrospective and prospective analysis, since it raises the implications of migration in transnational families, before and during the global crisis; And the realization of projections. It is also necessary to use a quantitative methodological approach, deepened with a qualitative investigation that accounts for the peculiarities of the phenomenon. We consider that this investigation can become an important input for the definition of the migration public policy in the local, regional and national; In the demographic, economic and communicational fields. A characterization of how the current world economic crisis impacts transnational families will allow reading the current reality of the region. On the other hand, through the programmed meetings and forums, debates will be generated on this topic that will allow to share knowledge and in turn feed up the process. These actions will contribute to strengthening the capacities of the region and will generate debates about the issue that will allow the construction and incidence of policies in the field of migration.
