Project Details
Description
Few species of the tropical forest of the Amazon and the Sierra have been investigated in order to seek secondary metabolites with possible pharmacological activity, so it becomes indispensable to carry out a study of these vegetables, aimed at systematic research to identify, isolate and test biochemical compounds of pharmacological interest derived from biodiversity. In this project, of at least 1 year, it is intended to study the antitumor and antifungal bioactivity of the raw extracts of plants of the Amazon and Sierra Tropical Forest, of the Southern Region, which will be proven against filament and yeaduriform fungi in a scheme of exhaustive Screenig. The selection of plant species for the study will be done according to the following criteria: - Information obtained on both popular and medicinal use by indigenous communities. - Bibliographic information obtained from traditional medical and ethnopharmacology, periodic publications, and international databases (Napralert, Medflor, Phytochemeco and others) The project will have a positive impact on our basic and applied knowledge of the vegetation of the southern region. It is expected that in the medium term the results may have applicability in the pharmaceutical area with an impact on the health systems of native populations as well as in agribusiness.
