Project Details

Description

When hydrological studies of hydrographic basins are carried out (area> 300 km2) the crucial importance of having a good estimate of the spatial variability of the rain is recognized. However, for hydrographic microbasins, the assumption of having a uniform precipitation is still applied, whether studies are carried out for individual microbasins or whether they are part of a regional study. To investigate the validity of this assumption, it is proposed to carry out an experiment in the upper part (1000 m of unevenness) of the Tabacay river microbasin (sub -basin of the Burgay River, Paute River Basin) by means of volume measurements and precipitation intensities. The project will allow to know the existing precipitation gradients and analyze these results with the measurements made by the hydrometeorological network of the PAute basin (1 pluviographer in the Burgay basin of approx. 450 km2). The project results will allow to know in more detail the hydrological processes on a small scale that have part in the mountain basins, especially the influence of the orography on precipitation; They will allow to advise future implementations of hydrometeorological networks, and will contribute to achieve adequate management and development of water resources in this type of basins, which constitutes one of the starting points for the integrated management of basins.
