Project Details

Description

The low yields obtained in corn in the Sierra Sur del Ecuador, 0.8 Tm/Ha (INEC 1998), is mainly due to the use of little giving veines and inappropriate agronomic management of them, which makes corn a little profitable crop. It is possible to increase yields in corn, taking advantage of their genetic potential (heterosis) by generating hybrids; Therefore, this project is justified, by forming the first endocried lines in high maize. The objectives of the project are the generation of at least 80 White corn lines type Zhima and 80 yellow corn lines (semi -mood) and create in students a research spirit. The methodology that will be used will be the realization of self -female with the participation of the students. It should be noted that this project will have the collaboration of technicians of the Chuquipata and Santa Catalina experimental stations of the National Autonomous Institute for Agricultural Research, INIAP.
