Project Details
Description
The generation of knowledge about environmental processes starts from having high space and temporal data. One of the current challenges is the combination and use of information generated by various sources: remote sensors (eg satellite), generated by models (e.g. global and regional climatic models) and generated by land stations (eg meteorological radar, weather stations) to perform the UP-SCALING and DOWNSCALING Information. That is, pass the information generated on a small scale at wider scales and vice versa. Several working groups of the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Sciences work on these research issues. At the moment a radar network in the south of Ecuador is implemented; There is a hydrometeorological monitoring system in several environmental observatories, mainly in Zhurucay, Quinuas and San Francisco; On the Ecuadorian platform-the German one has remote sensors to measure evapotranspiration (scintilometer); They have finished and projects that study climate projections for the next century are in execution; To cite the most important.
