Description

In today's society digital technology offers many possibilities for the development of digital skills, however, these possibilities also lead to risks and threats to adolescents. In response to these risks, parents meet an active role to guide their children in the use of digital technologies. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the impact of parental mediation and socio -emotional competencies of adolescents from 12 to 17 years through the analysis of the relationship of parental mediation strategies, socio -emotional competencies and use of digital technology to provide recommendations oriented to the optimization of technology in adolescents that attend basin educational units. To achieve this objective, a quantitative approach is assumed, with a transverse non -experimental design and an explanatory scope. To evaluate parental mediation in the parents of 1800 adolescents, the parental mediation scale will be applied in the use of ICT (Rodríguez Pérez et al., 2020) and hyperconnectivity, through the EU Kids online 2020 (Garmendia et al., 2020) survey; While, adolescents will be applied: the survey of activities, mediation, opportunities and online risks of minors (Garmendia et al., 2019), finally, to evaluate emotional competences (SEHS-S) (Furlong et al., 2015). Finally, to ensure that the results favor a qualifying mediation for the development of digital and socio -emotional competences of adolescents, a parental mediation guide for the responsible and healthy use of technology will be presented.
