Project Details
Description
Established that the slow growth of Polylepis does not seem a consequence of the lack of carbon, since its net balance is positive, as we have established in the previous project, now it must be elucidated if the low temperatures limit the growth processes (the meristematic activity) while the carbon acquisition continues at a more than enough pace. If so, the temperature increase derived from climate change could be translated into positive effects for the species.
