Description

At the University of Cuenca, an English course divided into three levels was carried out for the first time, dedicated exclusively to older adults (80) within a research project, which sought to determine if their participation in the aforementioned classes would help them maintain their cognitive levels. Part of the results of this work have already been published and others are equally to spread. However, although it is known how many people approved the course there are no elements that help determine the global results of the English classes, so the principal objective of this research is to carry out a summative investigation of this course to determine how much the expectations of this population group were met, its strategies used in class, the affectivity of the activities directed by the teachers to achieve the achievements of the planned learning. For this task a mixed methodology will be used for the analysis of different sources of information that include, but are not limited to the grades obtained by the students, in the different tests, duties and exams; The curricula of each class, and their correspondence with the European reference framework for languages; Students' journlas; Surveys of students about their learning styles and strategies and surveys to teachers about their teaching surveys
