Description
Due to the constant increases in motorized mobility and the decline of active mobility of children from and from international level, there are innumerable initiatives to promote active mobility of schoolchildren. With positive results in Europe and North America is "Safe Routes to School"; While, in Latin America, similar initiatives have been applied without based on evidence and unknown results. This proposal seeks to consolidate knowledge about active mobility in intermediate cities in Ecuador and Latin America. The main objective is the pilot development and application of a method and tool to evaluate and design safe school routes (beef) in Ecuadorian intermediate cities. For this, it will be sought: i) generate a methodology adapted to the context of Ecuadorian intermediate cities for beef evaluation and design; I) Perform a pilot for the evaluation of urban conditions for the active mobility of children in 8 schools in Cuenca and Ibarra; Iii) Develop and implement a free software -based computer tool for res. Finally; Iv) Generate a set of urban design criteria for bee and apply them in schematic designs for study schools. A protocol and a computer tool for the evaluation of the walking of children in urban environments, a pilot baseline in 8 schools in Cuenca and Ibarra, a scientific article on the determining factors of walkability, and a copnjunct of beef design criteria for Ecuadorian and Latin American intermediate cities.
