Description
The objective of this multidisciplinary research is to study the musicological and ethnomusicological components of the child's pass in Cuenca to contribute to its cultural assessment. The Festival of the Child's pass and in particular that of the "Traveling Child" pass as a major party linked to the Christian liturgy of Jesus' birth, is a collective action of popular, symbolic-ritual religiosity that has not been sized since musicology and ethnomusicology. Central axis of this project is music and its sound landscape understood this, such as the acoustic context that frames a cultural activity and a specific place, identifying and particularizing the social actors that generate it. The need to deepen your study becomes unplazable, even more, from its declaration as Intangible Heritage of Ecuador in 2008. This qualitative research, which crosses specialization borders, will resort to specific methodologies for the achievement of each objective. To identify and characterize the musicological and ethnomusicological components in the sociocultural context of the pass, the method of analytical induction, the ethnographic, the descriptive and the comparative analysis will be used. The ethnomusicological analysis will start from Timoty Rice's syncretic proposal that interrelated: conceptualization, behavior and musical sound with the historical, social and individual context. In field research techniques such as observation and interview will be used. To develop the academic and artistic material based on the musicological and ethnomusicological components, cataloging techniques will be used; Of registration and transcription; Of interpretation and musical composition; Of writing academic articles. To contribute to the elaboration of strategic lines for the research, conservation and dissemination of the child's pass, the analytical induction method will be used with the comparison and synthesis technique. From these studies, new theoretical considerations will be obtained on: identity, memory, ritual, musical analysis that will contribute to contextualized cultural management processes, with the purpose of "re-knowledge" through this party.
