Exploratory study of the application of the Integrated Learning Approach of Foreign Content and Languages (AICLE) in the English Language career of the University of Cuenca

Integrated learning of foreign content and languages is a dual approach focused on the curricular content taught through a foreign language. The use of a foreign language in the teaching of content subjects - not the language - has been a central theme in European educational systems for more than two decades. Due to its growing popularity, research has increased; The studies have given relevance to AICLE's potential and have numbered their many benefits in terms of language learning and content learning. They claim that Aicle promotes the acquisition of knowledge of foreign languages and develops high level of thought. The content and language domains have been studied in AICLE; However, it seems that there has been more interest in examining the domain of linguistic competence. For this reason, this study is focused on an analysis of the current state of the AICLE approach in the English language career particularly in auditory and academic writing skills, for which an exploratory design of mixed methodology will be used. It is expected to obtain relevant information about the current state of the application of the Aicle approach in the English language career which will serve to determine whether or not it is necessary to implement a subsequent intervention that helps to improve the race to achieve the necessary standards for accreditation
