Description

This project proposes the realization of a comparative musicological study of repertoires, styles and composers, of the cathedral musical archives, which have been previously studied by various researchers and belong to Peru -Lima, Cusco-, Ecuador -quito, basin- from the 18th to the nineteenth century. The purpose is to promote a system of material interconnections to, in this way, generate a contribution to the musical scientific community that works with recovery of musical heritage and its contexts. It is intended to structure comparative catalogs and a search for similarities and peculiarities of religious musical development of cathedral centers in Latin America, as a first interconnection element. It will work with a research methodology based on different approaches to musicology and history, emphasizing a comparative qualitative study, which takes various indicators such as composers, repertoires and styles. The hermeneutics applied to historical discipline was taken as a model, from this perspective, hermeneutical interpretation is fully related to the conception of the historical method. The project will feature professionals from the Faculty of Arts, University of the Hemispheres of Quito and the Pontifical Catholic University of Santa María de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
