Family education styles in the city of Cuenca

The "Family Education Styles in the City of Cuenca" project aims to understand, based on the study of the structure of Cuenca families, what are the education styles that parents usually use in the raising of their children, to disseminate the results of the research that allows the subsequent implementing educational programs in the field of family prevention and intervention. In response to the objective, the study will be quantitative that will reach a correlational level. The dependent variables are the family education styles, framed in the classical typology of the author Diana Baumrind (1967, 1971), and the independent variables are: sex, age, marital status, family unit, organization of family life and educational attitudinal tendencies. The sample is the parents of children of the second year of basic education (6-7 years) who attend schools in the city of Cuenca. The sample selection procedure is stratified by the name of the center and following strategic and statistical criteria that guarantees a representation of the different socio -economic, cultural and family organization levels that allow us to understand the family education styles in the city of Cuenca. The research will contribute to identify the structure of the Cuenca family, its organization and the educational strategies of each of the styles used by fathers/mothers. The results of the research will be disseminated to social and educational actors: psychologists, authorities, teachers of educational institutions, parents of schools that participated in the research; Government and non -governmental organizations, through communication strategies to influence the discussion at the educational, social and political level of the role of the family in education and the healthy sociabilization of the boys and girls.
