Description

Cuenca is a city with a high level of seismic threat. The occurrence of earthquakes of important intensity is plausible, and its historic center (CH) is the area prone to greater damage in its built heritage. In this context, a two -year project is proposed to study the seismic performance of the CH Buildings, in terms of degree of damage, considering the two scales of the problem: individual (building) and territorial and three levels of seismic action: mild, moderate and high. In the first instance, as a continuation of the seismore resistant capacity and modes of failure of non -reinforced masonry buildings typical of the Historic Center of Cuenca, the problem of seismic damage scenarios will be addressed at the building level. From the capacity curves obtained, implementing methods based on non -linear static analysis (v.g. capacity spectrum method), expected degrees of damage will be estimated. In the second instance, as a continuation of the seismic vulnerability project of low -rise buildings in Cuenca, the problem will be addressed at the territorial level. 3 typical buildings for 3 predominant typologies (adobe masonry, brick masonry, brick masonry with tied beams) will be identified. Random models of typical buildings will be generated from logarithmic probability functions, which define the mechanical properties of the material. Parametric studies of each typology based on non -linear static analysis (V.G. Extended N2 Method) will be carried out, 27 sets of fragility curves will be defined for the three typologies of study.
