Description
Teachers often question the authorship of their students' assignments due to the language used, without being able to determine precisely whether they have been developed with generative artificial intelligence (AI), nor if this tool contributes to facilitating or limiting the educational process, since the university lacks a contextualized and self-reported mechanism to evaluate its use in ethical, educational and social terms. The present quantitative study uses an instrumental research design because it proposes to design and validate a scale of use of generative AI in students at the University of Cuenca considering the gender and social differences that exist between them. For this, three techniques will be used: 1) A validation of the content of the scale by experts and reliability in a pilot test of at least 80 students, 2) a validation of the structure through confirmatory factor analysis after applying it in a probabilistic sample of at least 800 students from all the faculties of the university, 3) an analysis of factorial invariance considering the possible differences in gender and social status depending on the type of financing of the students' secondary education. It is expected to publish the results in high-impact journals, oriented towards the validation of content and reliability, as well as the validation of the structure with its respective invariance, in addition to socializing the results in the university community with possible recommendations to update the Academic Regime Regulations of the Higher Education Council.
