Description
We propose a population study, aimed at the primary prevention of bad sexual and reproductive health of adolescents (SSRA). A deep understanding of the structural determinants of the SSRA, such as gender norms and attitudes, will allow us to establish effective interventions to improve their sexual and reproductive health (SSR) and, subsequently, its general health. Almost two thirds of premature deaths and one third of the total morbidity load in adults are associated with conditions or behaviors that began in this population. Risk sexual behaviors are the main taxpayers to years of life lost by disabilities adjusted in very young adolescents in almost all regions of the world. Understanding and contributing to the health of young people is crucial to improve the health status of the community. SSRA is an important public health problem. Ecuador has the highest adolescent pregnancy rates in the Andean region, with important physical and socio -economic consequences. A central predictor of SSRA is gender socialization; The learning process and internalization of beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that one understands of themselves and their relationships. Early adolescence (10-14 years) is the time that young people assume socially defined gender roles, resulting in the roads that lead to certain SSR results. While the evidence indicates that gender norms influence the SSR is not yet understood how early teenagers acquire these norms and adopt behaviors that mold their sexual and reproductive health.
