Description
The solid waste recycling activity in regions such as Latin America and specifically in Ecuador are developed by recycling women; This work is the main economic activity for them; However, it generates precarious income under conditions of inequality, exploitation and criminalization; This conjugated with the sexual division of labor and gender violence sharpens impoverishment and increase their vulnerability. We raise the research question: What are the health, work (productive and reproductive) factors and public policies that affect recycling women in Ecuador, in the COVID-19 context? The objective is proposed: "Evaluate the situation of recycling women in productive and reproductive work and occupational health, public policies that affect them, and codiseñar, implement and evaluate gender transformative strategies to improve their working and health conditions." Different methodologies, IAP, ethnography, collaborative science, epidemiological studies and socio -spatial analysis will be applied. Two processes will be addressed: a) Analyze social, economic and health determinants; B) Develop a collaborative science process based on the community participation of this group. This proposal will be made in a co -produced with recycling, facilitating their empowerment and the development of their capacities, significantly contributing to the strengthening of health support networks, and to the recognition and assessment of their work. Additionally, in a coordinated manner with the public administration, the cooperation of the planning, implementation and evaluation of actions, and implementation of public policies in favor of recycling will be developed.
