Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Problem: The implementation of the monetary-change system called dollarization in Ecuador has caused a large number of final and industrial consumer goods to be entered into the country that in many cases are of very good quality. As a consequence national producing companies, especially microenterprises, have not had the ability to compete with imported tradable goods. That is why they have had to close their doors countless small and medium industries and the same has happened has been part of informal producing companies in order to evade mainly taxes, and thus be able to reduce costs. The number of informal microenterprises has increased with a displacement of a part of the labor sector in the canton from a situation of formal labor dependence towards informal. This does not lead to some questions about the current situation of the informal productive sector in the Cuenca canton. How many producing companies are currently in the canton? And from these, how many are old formal microenterprises come less? Do you have the informal productive sector of the Basin Canton lower levels of productivity than the so -called formal sector? Is the employment situation of workers in the productive sector productive? GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Diagnose the productive informal sector in the Cuenca canton and comparatively evaluate the levels of productivity and employment of the workers of the small informal companies with the formal companies. Methods: Descriptive type research, with samples of similar companies in size and corporate name, both of the formal and informal sector. Information collection through directed surveys and structured observation. Descriptive and inferential analysis (tests for one and two populations) of labor and productivity indicators. Correlational research to identify and validate the significance of the main variables that affect labor productivity (anova of one and two ways, ji-square of independence, economic modeling).
