Description
Until today, most territorial and transport planning processes have concentrated in urban areas. In addition, these plans have been raised, in most cases, without articulation with the rural area, depriving the inhabitants of this area of the appropriate conditions to progress towards a new development style that imposes equality and sustainability. This is the case of Latin American cities such as Cuenca in Ecuador, where there is an extensive peri -urban area around the city where the most vulnerable population is based on both their level of income and for the type of land they occupy. Farmers, object of this research, represent an important proportion of the population. In Cuenca, many of these farmers traditionally go to the city's urban center to sell a small basket with the few overwhelming agricultural products of their garden after supplying their family, to get a few dollars, which constitutes a vital income for the support of the family. Traditionally, much of these women go by public transport on the line bus and once in the urban center of Cuenca, they are installed in the same public space. However, in contradiction with customs rooted both in the rural and urban population, farmers are restricted in their activities by the current municipal ordinances that limit the use of transport and public space for the loading and sale of these agricultural products, thus generating a very important damage to the farmers of Cuenca. In the main objective of this project is therefore investigating what possible improvement solutions exist to ensure the economic resources of women's farmers in Ecuador.
