The good living of real populations: socio -territorial indicators for the Cuenca canton

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The project "The Good Living of Royal Populations: Socio -territorial indicators for the Canton Cuenca" proposes to build socio -territorial indicators in a participatory manner - from the category of real populations and the multidimensional measurement approach -, in order to generate a methodological proposal that contributes to the generation of public policies. The analytical categories of "real populations", "fourth generation of indicators" and "harmony", derived from the investigative findings of good living, are the main elements that will guide the socio -territorial operationalization of the indicators. This project gives continuity to the “alternative measurements” research line located in the alternative critical thinking of development worked by Pydlos. After a first approximation of good living in the territories of Cuenca and Nabón (2015 survey), it was possible to define six articulating axes of good living: social inclusion and access to rights, interculturality, social and solidarity economy, participation, environment and human mobility. The current proposal is to reinforce each of these axes through a triangulation process (theoretical, empirical and methodological) that generates a system of socio -territorial indicators. For this, the available collection of primary sources of Pydlos will be combined, with secondary information from the local actors in the territory, as well as the use of qualitative methodologies in those critical areas of the significant dimensions of good living. This project is part of the national and world reflection on the need for new metrics that account for territorial complexities, be participatory, multidimensional and contain the rights approach. It offers, therefore, a proposal for the operation of good living in real populations (Canton Cuenca), as well as testing a triangulation methodology that allows optimizing the sources of information generated at different levels for the integral study of real populations.
