This study aims to make a diagnosis of the competitive industrial situation in the Ecuadorian economy and on the basis of the analysis define the factors that determine them, the different approaches to industrial competitiveness, the identification of significant and mesurable indicators in order that both the government and the private sector know the competitive situation of the country and understand the factors that determine it in order to act consistently. The first to be able to design effective industrial policies that reflect the reality of the country. Many governments lack an industrial vision because they do not have access to information, and if they have it, they often do not know how to analyze it to guide in decision making. The private sector also benefits from this study by providing them with rigorous data and analysis on which to base their corporate strategic decisions. Simplified, the work consists of two main parts: the technical part and the analytics: Does the technical part consist of three parts: the first on competitiveness indicators, how they are built and their meaning; The second on international databases what they are, how the data is obtained and processed and the third the presentation of said indicators in tables and comparative graphs. In this part, the use of Wits software (World Integrated Trade Solutions) that serves to extract international trade data will be requested. Does the analytical part offer the tools to be able to analyze the indicators obtained in a specific case. The databases that would be used for the study are varied. Uncomtrade for exports and imports, UNUDI industrial statistics for manufacturing added value, number of companies, employment and salaries in the manufacturing sector, domestic investment; World Investment Report of UNCTAD, for direct foreign investment (flows and stocks): World Telecommunication indicators database of ITU, for telecommunication indicators; The statistical yearbook of UNESCO, for indicators of human capital and science and technology: World Development indicators of the World Bank, for general indicators on economy and business environment; Ibero -American Network of Science and Technology Indicators, for scientific technology and human capital indicators; Laborsta de la ILO, for work indicators of all kinds. These international databases must be combined with sources from the Central Bank and other existing institutions in the country.
