Ecology, Structure and Function of the Polylepis Reticulata Rodes in the Cajas National Park: Current State and Future Projection in the framework of climate change

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The project will analyze some main aspects of the Polylepis Reticulata ecophysiology in the Cajas National Park. A double goal is pursued. On the one hand, understand the current state of the Polylepis rodals: variables such as density, biomass and amount of carbon that accumulate, the renewal rate of the leaves, roots biomass, etc. analogously, analogously, the medium through information on physical characteristics, climate and local variables (such as the type of soil and hydrological variables) will be analyzed. Based on these data, the second objective pursued is to model the future of these rodals during the next decades according to the changes that are projected within the framework of climate change to guide the management that allows to guarantee the conservation of Polylepis in the Cajas National Park and in other areas of the country.
