Floristic diversity, structure and plant communities in Andean forests of the province of Azuay

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Andean natural ecosystems are very diverse, fragmented, with high deforestation rates but little studied, especially in Azuay and Cañar. This project in order to generate information that serves as a management tool for the management and conservation of Andean ecosystems and its flora aims to evaluate deforestation rates in Andean forests. Richness, diversity and floristic structure at the ecosystem level will also be evaluated according to the classification of vegetation ecosystems for continental Ecuador published by the Ministry of Environment. In these natural scenarios it will be identified based on ecological parameters of vegetation and multivariate analysis plant communities that are possibly the result of secondary succession. Finally, it will be evaluated as the environmental, physiographic and edaphic variables are influencing the presence of plant communities.
