Dynamics of soil particles by means of microtopographic profiles and implementation of comprehensive farms in the middle basin of the Paute River

The research project will be carried out in the Microbasin of the Cachihuayco River, located in the middle basin of the Paute River (Annex 1). This will become a second stage of research of the winning project of the IV DIUC Research Contest ("Soil restoration and recovery in the middle basin of the PAute River" .2006). This project will contain a deep study of micro erosion plots, in slopes of 12 to 25 % and 25 to 50 %, in which the farmer of the area cultivates mainly corn. The profiles will be evaluated by means of a microtopographic profiler, thus obtaining erosion rates that may be contrasted with the data obtained in preliminary research. Within this same field (micro erosion) the evolution of gullies will be followed, obtaining volumes of erosion, in addition conservation works in gullies will be implemented, for this case volumes of retained soil will be obtained, all this in order to compare results and reinforce the dynamics of soil geomorphology. To register the precipitation of the microbasin during the year of study, data will be taken from a Hellman type pluviometer, with the participation in the data of community members. The study also contemplates an integral management of farms, with the participation of students of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the Farmers, who will collaborate in the management of soils, with the implementation of small conservation works, organic orchards, agroforestry systems, planning of plot, compost, bioles. With this year of research it is expected to understand the geodynamic process of the soil surface and disseminate appropriate technologies in the control of erosion, in addition to performing the integral management of farms in the study area, to try to increase productivity.
