Description

Clinical, epidemiological knowledge and cultural variations of the response to chronic pain in our environment are not known; The evaluation instruments used are those of the western world. The differences in the response to chronic pain are due to the influence of culture, they develop within the ways will be and make human groups. Nociceptive reactions are due to genetic patterns, emotional responses to what they learned in each culture. It is tried to establish the differences of cultural (emotional) responses to chronic pain in human groups in the region (Saraguro, Shuara, Cañari and mestizos of the peasant social security of the Cuenca canton) through: description of the frequency and clinical characteristics of the most common forms of chronic pain (medical medical history); Apply to selected patients pain evaluation and quality of life of patients with chronic pain; In -depth interviews with qualified informants: doctors belonging to the ethnic groups to be studied, patients with chronic pain and Yachags of the region in order to describe the conceptions and beliefs that exist around pain in the selected human groups.
