Project Details

Description

This project that aims to contribute to the strengthening of local capacities such as investigating, revaluing, protecting and managing knowledge linked to intercultural health in the Azuay-E peasant union, arises from a need raised by its community leaders, which is articulated with the research and linking interests of the Department of Intercultural Studies. Hence, from a sustained dialogue, notions of a proposal are delimited that seeks to improve the living conditions of the communities using their main tool: knowledge. To this end, a qualitative methodological design is attended that collects through ethnography: voices, visions and knowledge of women and men as a comadrone, Yachays, healers and others, who from their worldviews contribute with health and collective well -being in territory. Therefore, in harmony with the principles of good living and the intercultural health approach, specific objectives are raised that help achieve the strengthening, certification and assessment of skills acquired around traditional medicine and healing mechanisms. Hence the work from two actors: with the communities and students with whom local knowledge will be collected about the care and well -being of body and spirit. Subsequently, with the communities it will be co-discarded and implemented a strengthening program for protection and management of their knowledge-doors from the field of intercultural health. Finally, for society in general, educational material on local knowledge will be disseminated, as legitimate alternatives, in dialogue with the policies of care and well -being of the body and spirit.
