Description

Water subject to disinfection can contain organic precursors that react with chemical disinfectant agents such as chlorine or bromine generating chlorinated or brominate organic compounds, trihalometans (THMs), many of them with proven toxic and/or mutagenic capacity. In the city of Cuenca EP Stage is the company in charge of purifying the water of the city. Water is captured from different rivers from the boxes where they go through wetlands and other vegetation that can make it susceptible to organic load. For the aforementioned, the objective of this investigation is to determine the occurrence of trihalometans in water linked and its spacetime variability in the city of Cuenca - Ecuador through the use of colorimetric methods. Water will be studied by watering by the 4 main plants of the city of Cuenca, Sustag, El Cebollar, Tixán and San Pedro. In addition, the samples will be carried out in the dry and humid period to see if there are differences by temporality. These results are expected to serve as a basis for taking actions that lead to the quality of water that reaches the city.
