Description
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK The work described in [1] involved the development of an own tool for the radio coverage evaluation, since that was an objective. Matradio was the tool developed as a modification of the Mirone program. The Mirone program was used to handle topographic data that originates the SRTM both in versions 2 and 4, as well as the rasterized models of the IGM cartography. The fact that Mirone is developed in Matlab facilitated the implementation of new functions that are incorporated into Mirone for the simulation of radio coverage. The resulting variant was called Matradio. Then, Matradio is an adaptation of the Mirone 1.4.0 program, and it was raised as a tool to simulate radio propagation phenomena under the conditions and models that the user is able to program. Mirone is a matlab -based tool that allows us to deploy and manipulate many Raster formats thanks to its interface with the GDAL bookstore. Mirone focuses on the field of geophysics and earth sciences. It is a program developed by Dr. Joaquim Luis of the University of Algarve: J. F. Luis. Mirone: Multi-purpose Tool for Exploring Grid Data. Computers & Geosciences, 33, 31-41, 2007. Matlab is an easy to program language, widely used in engineering, and that has many mathematical functions that can be used. Mirone, together with Matlab Maptools library are used to achieve matradio adaptation. Matlab's ease is used to generate a graphic interface; But Mirone is designed to optimize processing resources, this allowed most work for the present work to be done with Matradio using a simple HP Pavilion Ze4500 portable computer with an AMD Athlon XP-M processor. GDAL (Geospatial Data Abstraction Library http://www.gdal.org/index.html): It is a bookstore for translation of geospacial data formats of the Raster type, it is distributed under the Open Source mode "by the Open Source Geospatial Foundation, the Foundation for the GEOESPACIAL OPEN Support and build the geospatial software of the highest quality.
