Description
The problem surrounding prostitution is expressed on two fronts: on the one hand, the institution itself, that is, the conceptualization that is done on it and the discourses and imaginary that have characterized this activity as sinful, dishonorable and dangerous. On the other hand, there are sex workers, stigmatized, discriminated and alienated women of their rights. Faced with this, this project seeks to analyze the configuration of prostitution in Cuenca and its effects on sex workers regarding their constitution as social actors and rights subjects. To achieve this, we will try to investigate how women who exercise prostitution, their rights and obligations and consequently, how sexual workers live and exercise their citizenship, which in turn will allow us to understand how the subjects are built from the difference, margins and stigmatization are exercised. To do this, we will work fundamentally with qualitative techniques under an interdisciplinary and gender approach.
