Description
We are increasingly questioning the use of chemicals for crop pest control. Biological control is an important method in an integrated pest management program by contributing to the reduction of environmental pollution. The general objective of the project is to analyze biological alternatives in pest control in order to reduce the use of toxic pesticides in grain storage. The specific objectives are: Evaluate the use of entomopathogenic fungi (Beauveria Bassiana and Metharhizium anisoplye) in the gorgjos control (Sitophilus zeama and obtectus acanthoscelides) in stored corn and beans stored grains. Hypothesis: That the Entomopathogen B. Bassiana fungus controls the gorgos than M. anisoplye and that the biological control of pests is the same as the chemical control in lowering the population of gorgy gorgers in stored grains stored by corn and beans. In the control of stored corn and beans -stored pests, fungi B. Bassiana and M. Anisoplye will be used in 4 doses in front of a chemical and an absolute witness. The corn grains will be infested with adult gorgjos of Sitophilus zeamais and the beans with obtectus acanthoscelides. 2 test and greenhouse tests will be carried out using a BCA design with 10 treatments and 3 repetitions. For the evaluation, the number of dead insects will be analyzed in each of the treatments, percentage of damage to corn and beans, number of piercations per grain, percentage of weight loss and analysis and identification of contaminating fungi of the grains.
