Description

The project "Contribution of Forestry and Reforestation to the Improvement of Land Performance in the Andes of South Ecuador: Evaluation, Modelization and Planning Support." Executed under the agreement held between the University of Cuenca through the Promo Water and Soil Management Program, and the university Katholieke Leuven, and with a "Vlir UOS" background, they maintain among their development goals, promote that the authorities, public and private institutions, NGOs, etc. Of the sustainable use of land and natural resources and must be willing to commit to reverse this historical and current trend of unsustainable use of land and forests in the Andes of the southern Ecuador. In this sense, the project tends to build capacities that contribute to decision -making through the development of a "decision support system", aimed at the service of authorities, leaders and community and local, institutional leaders, involved in the planning of natural resources, in which the forestry, reforestation and management of forests are considered. Complementing with the participatory elaboration of a planning guide and a code of good practice in relation to methods, techniques and practices for afforestation and reforestation.
