Description

The growth of cities, to a large extent, has been given by the construction of residential blocks, which by their characteristics have contributed significantly to the cities in general terms are non -sustainable. Therefore, several countries have seen the urgent need to implement indicators that allow evaluating the sustainability of their urban areas, such as neighborhoods, urban complexes or neighborhoods. The determination of these indicators constitutes an effective tool in the purpose of achieving the sustainable development of cities. However, the development of indicators has not worried about its possible adaptation to different contexts of the planet. In this sense, the present research project aims to contextualize the indicators for the sustainable evaluation of neighborhoods in the city of Cuenca - Ecuador, through a research methodology that studies international indicators through three stages, where these indicators are defined, categorized and evaluated. The results that are expected to be obtained, in addition to the availability of indicators that serve to intervene and design sustainable neighborhoods in the city of Cuenca, is to provide empirical evidence that contributes to the scientific debate on the contextualization of indicators.
