Knowledge, attitudes and practices on the rights of the elderly. Azuay and Cañar -Ecuador provinces, 2016 - 2017

Objective: Determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices (CAPS) related to the rights of older adults who go to the first level of health care centers belonging to the provinces of Azuay and Cañar. Population and methods: a representative sample of older adults (65 years and more age) residents in the areas of influence of the first level of care units of the provinces of Azuay and Cañar, where the students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences perform the pre -professional practices are participated in the study. After the signing of the informed consent, a structured interview will be applied, previously validated, with questions about the sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, attitudes and practices about the rights of the elderly and an observation form. The information collection will carry out the students of the community cycle of the Medicine and Physical Therapy career, after a training process. On the basis of the results found, an educational proposal will be prepared for the promotion of the rights of the elderly. EXPECTED RESULTS: A diagnosis of knowledge, attitudes and practices related to the rights of the elderly and an educational proposal for the promotion of the rights mentioned, with participatory strategies aimed at involving social organizations and institutions linked to the area of health, will be available.
