Citizen Science for Biodiversity Conservation In Agricultural-TRANSITION TRANSITION "

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Protected areas play an important role in biodiversity conservation, since they provide the necessary conditions for their development and survival. However, wildlife present in these areas is not restricted to these spaces, on the contrary, they can move outside them, using surrounding landscapes as transit or food areas. It is very frequent that the landscapes that surround conservation areas be predominantly for agricultural use, thus creating conflict between conservation and production activities. Through the use of recording devices and supported by the Citizen Science approach, the project seeks to know the role of agricultural landscapes in biodiversity conservation. For this, Trapa and Audiomoths cameras will be installed in conservation, agriculture and transition agriculture-conservation areas in the Ecological Area of Municipal Conservation Tinajillas Río Galaceño. At the end of the project, it is expected to have a Wildlife Registry that occupies agricultural areas and generate information for environmental education of the populations surrounding the conservation area.
