Project Details

Description

The present research will be executed in the Irquis farm of the University of Cuenca, located in the Victoria Portete Parish, Canton Cuenca, province of Azuay, for this purpose there will be the specialized support of the University of Nariño. The conservation of zoogenetic resources today is a worldwide priority due to the great loss of the genetic diversity of many animal species by having been seriously affected by indiscriminate selection and improvement, contemplating only economic aspects related to high productivity without considering the value of the original genetic load which is closely related to the sustainability of production systems when it is forced to rect it Aspects such as the rusticity and resistance present in Creole animals and that become necessary to face the various present and future environmental changes globally. The guinea pigs are an alternative for the food security of the Andean population especially from there its importance as a kind of zootechnical interest; As soon as a few years ago, the interest in knowing its genetics has begun from there the reduced number of studies, which is why, in the face of the great and aggressive introduction of improved animals at risk of inbreeding and genetic variability, it is essential to revalue the Creole animal and its existing ecotype That allows information available to the community in general, all this through ex situ management criteria. For work, guidelines issued by FAO have been taken into account; Statistical analyzes: For zoometric work, descriptive statistics will be used, for the productive and reproductive characterization, a random block design will be used with bifactorial arrangement and for the molecular characterization a genetic analysis.
