Description
To reduce information overload, this project proposes the design and implementation of a semantic platform that enriches the interface between the programs and the operating system of the digital TV platform adopted by Ecuador, through the formal representation of the preferences of viewers and the contents of the programs using ontologies1. The solution proposed in this project will provide users with mechanisms to satisfy i) the location of content that really interests the viewer, since the huge amount of information to which a user has access can overwhelm it, and ii) the customization of content, making the interaction more attractive and effective. More attractive because it will adapt to user preferences and more effective because it will take into account user behavior2. We describe a typical use scenario of this project. A viewer observing a chapter of the program Does a new lifestyle that deals with tips on the types of food that we must choose to be healthy, it could be additionally interested in a program where the number of calories that certain meals provides, a documentary about diets or an interactive application about different eating disorders can be explained. These applications and/or television programs can help understand the issues or get greater depth on the information of the program you are observing. However, the system should be able to select only those programs/applications that are of interest to the viewer based on their preferences, with the aim of not overloading information. For example, the interactive application on eating disorders should be only offered to those users who are interested in medicine. The system may also recommend similar programming to the viewer, which is being offered or offered in other channels.
