Description

In the National Living Plan, article 4.8.J. It is proposed: "Promote the assessment of material and immaterial cultural heritage and natural heritage in educational spaces" and in article 5.4.d. It is said that it is part of its program: "stimulate the creation, production, dissemination, marketing, distribution, exhibition and strengthening of diverse cultural and creative ventures and industries, as a strategic sector within the framework of regional integration." And one of the research lines of the University of Cuenca is "the cultural history of Cuenca and its region." In this sense, what this project proposes is to recover a key history of the cinematographic criticism of the city and the country. Kino Pravda was the pseudonym under which the Dominican priest Alfonso Martínez published, quite regularly, his film criticisms in a local newspaper, El Mercurio, between the 70s and 2002. Basically recovering those texts of the archive means returning for history not only of the film vision of an individual (the critic) but of a city and its inhabitants (its readers). Repositioning readings, as Benjamin says in the origin of the German Baroque drama, is to recover from the debris of history a fragment. And this means entering the file in which a process of tracking, lifting, selection, correction and notation of a textual universe produced over approximately three decades must Conception of cinema, films, spectators and film criticism in a context located such as the culture of the city of Cuenca and its region.
