Description
Worldwide, the use of technology has taken increased importance. The cities have promoted the inclusion of ICTs in their management models, from which smart cities arise, which have as its main objective to link new technologies in all sectors, mainly economic and social. On the other hand, tourism is considered an economic activity that is in continuous change, becoming a source of socioeconomic development in many territories, which see in this activity the revitalization of their economies, the generation of employment and the improvement of the quality of life of the populations. The present project aims to analyze the potential of intelligent tourism in heritage destinations, taking as studies the cities of Quito and Cuenca, located in Ecuador and declared by the UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Therefore, the peculiarities of two patrimonial cities, the reality of their territory and its development as an emerging destination that ensure their potential that allow it to be an intelligent destination have been considered.
