Analysis of innovation in micro, small and medium -sized companies in Cuenca.

The purpose of the work is to present significant aspects about the role of innovation in the micro, small and medium -sized companies (MSMEs) sector of the city of Cuenca, its characterization and its relevance for competitiveness by influencing its profitability, as well as the implementation of policies aimed at the development of business innovation. The characterization of the elements of innovation will be investigated through interviews conducted to the entrepreneurs of the city, according to the database of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuenca and its selection will cover all the economic activities of the city. The interview will also obtain elements that characterize the effects of innovation on the improvement of competitiveness. The research team conducted a previous study on the entrepreneurship factors that influence the companies of the city of Cuenca and based on the results obtained from this research, it is expected to continue contributing with data to the business sector for decision -making for the sustainability of companies and the promotion of entrepreneurial culture in the city. In addition, the results will be useful for public actors such as the Municipality of Cuenca, for the newly created public economic development company and for production cameras, especially that of Industries and Commerce, which seek the promotion of entrepreneurial culture in the city. Additionally, research results may be useful for recommendations to improve postgraduate training and continuing education in the business management area within the university community.
