Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Safe, accessible and attractive parks can overcome gender differences in physical activity. The project will actively collaborate with the departments of the City Council of Cuenca in charge of the social and gender equity programs and to develop the Public Spaces Master Plan. Several actors will be actively involved, including adolescents living in the peri -urban areas of the city and those of lower socio -economic strata. At the end of the project, culturally relevant data will be generated on how the parks are used and designed. The methodologies and results will be used to update the curricula of the bachelor and postgraduate programs in order to ensure that the research adapts to the needs of society. Finally, the project will develop scientific communication strategies using participatory research to improve the effectiveness of scientific communication. These milestones could allow the desired impact to be achieved: "The parks in Cuenca-Ecuador are safe, attractive, accessible and promote health and well-being among all adolescents, regardless of their gender, ethnicity or socioeconomic status."
